This synopsis is for information and planning purposes only, and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government. The Naval Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technology Division (NAVEODTECHDIV), Indian Head, Maryland, is searching for sources who can supply a commercially available off-the-shelf (COTS) measurement system (i.e. magnetometer) for precisely determining the intensity of magnetic field components. The system must measure variations in the magnetic field intensity, from less than one gamma to one gauss in an ambient field of 20,000 to 100,000 gamma. The system must be versatile, applications range from the measurement of magnetic signatures of hand tools and Navy diver's gear to the measurement of time variations of the earth's magnetic field. The system must operate both in laboratory and outside environments. The system should be one-man portable and operate on a supply voltage of 60 Hz, 115 volts. The system should have output terminals, so that magnetic field variations can be recorded.
