synopsis is for information and planning purposes only, and is not to
be construed as a commitment by the Government. The Naval Explosive
Ordnance Disposal Technology Division (NAVEODTECHDIV), Indian Head,
Maryland, is searching for sources who can supply a commercially
available off-the-shelf (COTS) measurement system (i.e. magnetometer)
for precisely determining the intensity of magnetic field components.
The system must measure variations in the magnetic field intensity,
from less than one gamma to one gauss in an ambient field of 20,000 to
100,000 gamma. The system must be versatile, applications range from
the measurement of magnetic signatures of hand tools and Navy diver's
gear to the measurement of time variations of the earth's magnetic
field. The system must operate both in laboratory and outside
environments. The system should be one-man portable and operate on a
supply voltage of 60 Hz, 115 volts. The system should have output
terminals, so that magnetic field variations can be recorded.
Interested entities may submit written responses and videotapes
detailing technical compliance to: Indian Head Division, Naval Surface
Warfare Center, 101 Strauss Ave., Indian Head, Maryland 20640-5035,
Attn: Renee Brown, Code 1143E. Information submitted should be
pertinent and specific to the technical area under consideration. There
is no specific format or outline that your response must follow. It is
also encouraged to submit other descriptive literature and any other
specific and pertinent information that would enhance our consideration
and evaluation of the information submitted. Firms responding should
indicate whether they are a small business, a socially and economically
disadvantaged business, or a woman-owned business. Please include two
(2) copies of each response. Each response must reference the sources
sought title and must be limited in length to 10 typed pages (not
including the additional descriptive literature). TELEPHONE RESPONSES
WILL NOT BE HONORED. So that your response can be included in our
source list for all appropriate Fiscal Years (FY) 1999 and 2000
competitions, your response must be received no later than the close of
business on 30 April 1999. Responses will be accepted after that date,
but cannot be assured of inclusion in all appropriate source lists.
