NASA/GSFC plans to issue a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for fabrication of a pixel asic chip with 100um size pixels, for the Infocus Balloon Project. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). NASA/GSFC intends to purchase the items from American Microsystems of Pocatello, ID. AMI is the only U.S. company that can provide the type or process needed (double poly, triple metal). The pixel ASIC chip must be compatible with other American Microsystems equipment, therefore, American Microsystems is the sole source for the chip. The Government does not intend to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. See Note 26. See Note 22. Interested firms have 21 days from the publication of this synopsis to submit in writing to the identified point of contact, their qualifications/capabilities. A determination by the Government to not compete this proposed effort on a full and open competitive basis, based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
