66 -- METABOLIC TREADMILL WITH SHOCK AND CONTROLLER SOL RQ99-015 DUE 032299 POC Brenda Goodwin, 304/285-5882; Contracting Officer, Rex S.Wolfe, Jr., 304/285-5883 The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) is conducting a project that will investigate the underlying bio-mechanical and physiological mechanisms associated with the occurrence of musculo-skeletal disease (MSD). Equipment required includes Metabolic Treadmill and Gas Analyzers that will allow for the manipulation and control of variables related to the effects of exercise and conditioning on susceptibility of muscles to injury. A prior competitive solicitation was issued in the CBD on September 11, 1998 and Columbus Instruments was the successful offeror. We now need to purchase the following items manufactured by Columbus Instruments, Columbus, OH: (001) #1012M-4-D38, modular metabolic treadmill 4-lane with shock; (002) #7600-D38, ECO-OXYMAX main controller, ECO O2 + CO2; (003) #7603-D38, ECO-OXYMAX air supply pump; and (004) #7620-D38, ECO-OXYMAX chamber ventilation system (5LPM). The equipment being purchased at this time must be compatible with equipment already in use. Unless the Government is able to locate other sources with compatible hardware and software, and interchangeability of equipment, the Government intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Columbus Instruments. If there are vendors having the capabilities necessary to meet the stated requirements, they are invited to submit appropriate documentation, literature, brochures and references demonstrating their ability to meet our requirement to Brenda L.
