L -- HANDLING, RIGGING, PACKING, CRATING, TRANSPORTING AND STORAGE OF TAXIDERMED MUSEUM SPECIMENS SOL F9936SOL0023 POC Lloyd McGill, (202)287-3238, Paulette Pressley, (202)287-3238 In preparation for the renovation of the Behring Hall of Mammals, the Smithsonian Institution is seeking offers to provide all labor, material, equipment and supervision to handle, rig, pack, crate, transport, and store taxidermed museum specimens. The successful offeror shall be responsible for designing, building and packing the National Museum of Natural History's Vertebrate Zoology Collection and transporting them to the Smithsonian Institution's warehouse facility in Newington, VA. Offerors shall be evaluated on their experience, plan of accomplishment and price. Offerors shall be required to provide a technical proposal which clearly indicates their ability to perform the work requirements. Offerors shall provide references of similar work successfully completed and demonstrate specialized experience in fine arts crate building, packing, transporting and storage. Offerors shall provide narrative on a plan of accomplishment that will coincide with the time frame required to complete the work and demonstrate the offeror's ability to do so. The successful offeror shall be required to provide a full time senior level project manager who will be responsible for quality control and be available at all times during the project for consultation with Smithsonian Institution representatives. The date for a preproposal conference shall be provided in the solicitation documents.
