13 -- PRESOLICITATION CONFERENCE FOR 155MM M107 PROJECTILE METAL PARTS The U.S. Army Industrial Operatiosn Command is hosting a Presolicitation Conference on Wednesday, April 7, 1999, (9:00 AM Central Time) at the IOC Conference Room, Sixth Floor, West End-South Bay, Building 350, Rock Island Arsenal, Illinois, regarding the 155mm M107 Projectile Metal Parts (MPTS). It is intented that there will be a DRAFT solicitation (DAAA09-98-R-0120)issued on the WorldWide Web prior to the conference. It is planned to discuss a firm fixed price five-year multi-year contract prior to issuance of formal solicitation. The 155mm M107 HE Projectle MPTS is a hollow steel shell with an ogival shape and a boattail for arodynamic efficiency. A threaded lifting plug closes the fuze cavity at the nose of the projectile for handling and storage. A rotating band encircles the shell casing near the base and is protected by a grommet before loading. A steel plate (base cover) is welded over the base to prevent entry of hot propellant gases into the projectile interior. It is planned that this requirement will be restricted to U.S. and Canadian sources only.
