Space Gateway Support/Wyle Labs, in support of the Joint Base Operating Support Contract at the Kennedy Space Center, FL has a requirement to perform non-volatile residue (NVR) analyses on solvent flush samples for cleanliness verification on certain items submitted for calibration. The required NVR analyses are currently being performed using an infrared (IR) spectrophotometer on CFC-113 solvent samples. As part of Kennedy Space Center s CFC elimination activities, a transition is being made from CFC-113 to an HFE-7100 solvent. SGS/Wyle Labs would like to obtain responses/information from suppliers who can provide an IR spectrophotometer capable of performing an NVR analysis using HFE-7100 as the carrier, where there would not be a problem with internal hydrocarbon bonding interfering with detection of extraneous hydrocarbon material. Suppliers who could propose other technically sound and cost effective methods for performing NVR determinations in HFE-7100 solvent are also invited to respond to this inquiry.
