15904-1935 B -- REQUEST FOR INNOVATIVE METAL FINISHING P2 TECHNOLOGIES SOL
Lensinski-001 DUE 041699 POC Dom Brown, (727) 549-7007 and Alva
Edwards-Daniels, (513)-569-7693 Synopsis: Pollution prevention
(P2)Technology suppliers (developers and manufactures) are being
solicited to participate in the following opportunity. The U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Concurrent Technologies
Corporation (CTC) have entered into a partnership to conduct
verification testing under EPA's Environmental Technology Verification
Program for Metal Finishing P2 Technologies (ETV-MF) Pilot. The
fundamental objective is to perform objective third-party verification
of commercial-ready, innovative, P2 technologies that reduce or
eliminate multimedia emissions from operations performed by the metal
finishing industry. Suppliers with innovative P2 technologies are
encouraged to participate in this national performance verification
program. If your environmental technology is commercially ready or at
sufficient scale and state of development such that performance claims
can be established and evaluated, this program may be of interest to
you. The ETV-MF stakeholder group has identified four main focus areas;
(a) acid bath maintenance for mineral acids; (b) electroless nickel
bath maintenance; (C)aqueous cleaner solution maintenance; and (d)
chromate conversion coating solution maintenance. P2 technologies are
being sought for these four focus areas, however, the ETV-MF Pilot
requests that manufacturers of technologies outside of these focus
areas also apply, in order to be considered for future verification
testing. The ETV-MF Team will review the technologies submitted, and
with guidance from the stakeholder group, will select and rank
technologies for verification testing, EPA, CTC,and the Stakeholder
Group, in concert with the supplier, will establish criteria for
verifying the technology. The P2 technology will be installed, and
verification testing will be performed by an objective third-party.
Verification testing costs in the pilot phase of the program are shared
by program funding. Results of the testing will be documented in
reports and made available to interested parties including metal
finishers and the public. Verification statements are published on the
EPA ETV Internet website at: www.epa.gov/etv and provide potential
customers, consulting engineers, and permitters with an independent
assesment of technology performance. If you have an innovative P2
technology, and are interested in submitting a technology for
verification testing, contact Donn Brown at the telephone number listed
above for an Abstract Submittal Form Additional information about the
ETV-MF Pilot can be found at the Internet website: www.etv-mf.org.
