This is not a Request for Proposal. OC-ALC is looking for a source which can provide non-developmental wide-band klystron power amplifiers (WBKPA) for the AWACS aircraft through the DoD Foreign Comparative Testing (FCT) program. These will replace our old design narrow band KPAs. Our goal is three-fold: First, the production of a specification compliant WBKPA; second, an improved service life for that KPA; and third, create another source of supply. We believe that these are not mutually exclusive goals. It must be a FORM, FIT AND wide-band FUNCTION KPA that can fit within the physical confines of the E-3 aircraft (where the narrow-band KPA resides, today), not require a change to the physical or software configuration of the aircraft to accommodate that KPA, and finally, provide the wide-band, even power production that our current KPAs are unable to achieve to meet all of the existing E-3 AWACS klystron requirements.
