commercial sources sought. Director for Safety and Survivability (S&S)
in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Navy (Installation &
Environment) is tasked to make immediate improvements to operational
safety and combat survivability for all Navy subsurface, air, shore,
and Marine Corps commands. The approach is to use commercial off the
shelf (COTS), non-developmental items (NDI) and technologies that
satisfy requirements for personal protection, damage control, fire
fighting, passive and active fire protection, hazardous chemical
environments, ballistic protection, and high energy level (nuclear and
other) exposure. To ensure rapid fleet introduction, COTS and NDI
items are pre-tested (frequently at government expense) and certified
for use with a Qualification Requirement (QR) prior to contractaward.
This notice publicizes for informational purposes only those equipment,
materials, and technologies that have met QR's and have received
interim certifications for immediate procurement and operational use.
This is not official endorsement of any of the products mentioned in
this announcement. The following is a listing of such items qualified
within the past six months: (a) Firefighter's helmet Light and Helmet
Bracket: Pelican Products, Inc. 23215 Early Street, Torrance, CA 90505,
Stealthlite Helment Light-part number 2400 and Helmet Bracket -- part
number 750; APPLICATION: The fire fighter's helmet light and mounting
bracket will be used by all Navy/Marine Corps fire fighters ashore and
afloat to provide illumination in firefighting/damage control
operations, (b)Transient Voltage Surge Suppressors: Innovative

Handling Device; APPLICATION: The fire fighter's hose handling device
will be used by all Navy/Marine Corps fire fighters, ashore and afloat,

Portable Compressor for Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) Air

Foam Applicator Jacket; APPLICATION: The portable foam supply vest will
be used by Navy/Marine Corps fire fighters, ashore and afloat, to

potential offerors should be forwarded at no cost to the government.
Proprietary or restricted information should be designated as such.
Submission should include available technical, operational, and cost
data. Offerors are advised of the potential for destructive testing of
items during the operational assessment. The Navy and is
representatives shall not be obligated to pay for such items if damaged
or destroyed. This notice is not a solicitation for bid, and will not
necessarily, but can result in a contract award. A product receiving
certification that meets the qualifications requirements would be a
