COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF MARCH 23,1999 PSA#2308R -- LOW COST CERAMIC OXIDE COMPOSITES The U.S. Department of Energy's
Federal Energy Technology Center (FETC), Morgantown, WV, intends to
award a fixed-price purchase order to SRI International, Menlo Park,
CA, for purchase and characterization of novel, low cost, ceramic oxide
composite samples. SRI International has patents on a unique technology
that allows them to fabricate ceramic composite materials at low cost
compared to conventional methods. There is no other known source from
which to purchase ceramic oxide composite materials made with a polymer
based impregnation method, which will be low cost and versatile in
composition and component shape. The purpose of this action is to
purchase such materials and expose them to a fossil energy environment
to assess their suitability for that application. This request is
considered to be sole sourced to SRI International. Therefore, no
solicitation will result from this announcement. This award shall be
made using simplified acquisition procedures. Requests for information
should be addressed to Ms. Kelly A. McDonald, FAX 304-285-4683.
