Private Detention Services -- The U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) has a requirement for detention services in the San Diego area. These services are for the houising and safekeeping of federal prisoners. All prisoners are considered medium/maximum. The facility(ies) will house primarily prisoners from the USMS Southern District of California, but could include prisoners from other USMS districts and other Federal Agencies. Two solicitations are being issued. The first, MS-99-R-0014 is for 750 bed spaces with a period of performance starting as soon as award can be made and the contractor can commence work. The period of performance of this contract will be for a base year and up to two one year options. The second solicitation, MS-99-R-0015, will be for up to 1,250 bed spaces and require performance to start approximately two (2) years after contract award. The contract awarded under that solicitation will be for a base contract year and four (4) one (1) year options. It is contemplated that the periodof first contract will be adjusted by exercising a partial option in the final year of performance so that the overlap period of the two contracts will be minimal. The solicitation for the first contract will be open for approximately 30 days, the second solicitation will be open for 120 day.
