AMSEL-LC-IEW-C-SN, Ft. Monmouth, NJ 07703-5000 E-MAIL: CECOM POC,
rivera@mail1.monmouth.army.mil, florido@mail1.monmouth.army.mil;. This
is a market research survey to locate sources to produce the AN/PPS-5
Upgrade Kits. Syracuse Research Corporation (SRC) designed the upgrade
kit and produced four "Production Configuration" kits and three
"prototypes" during the development phase. The Production Configuration
kits are the baseline for a production effort. The AN/PPS-5 is a
portable all-weather Ground Surveillance Radar. The upgrade kit is
defined by the following documents: SRC TD 98-0360 Final Interface
Control Document, and SCR TD 98-0361 Configuration Item Development
Specification. In addition, a set of intelligent data files in the
following formats defines the design baseline: AutoCad, ABEL4,
Dataplace+, Novaback, PowerPCB, Workview Office, XABEL, XACT-CPLD, XACT
Step WVO Front End, and EZTag. The AN/PPS-5 upgrade kit is designed to
work with existing AN/PPS-5B components. It replaces the old
Receiver-Transmitter, the Antenna Drive Assembly, the Battery Box, and
associated cables with newer state of the art components offering
increased performance, lower weight and improved maintenance support.
The upgrade kit increases the maximum detecting performance of the
radar to 20 kms for moving vehicles and 10 kms for moving personnel. It
provides audio signal identification as well as visual via the
Control-Indicator laptop (Handheld Terminal Unit). The HTU/software
package will be Government Furnished Equipment. Use of commercially
available NDI components is required. Other tasks include the
completion of the following documents, which are pending NSNs,
nomenclatures, and source data: Technical Manual (TM 11-5840-383-13&P),
the Provisioning Master Record (PMR), and the Instructor and Key
Personnel Training (SRC TD 98-0400). No Production Set of Drawings
(Level III) exists but may be required if awarded as part of the
contract deliverables. No proposals are requested in this market survey
nor is there any guarantee that a solicitation will be issued.
Responses will be accepted until April 9, 1999. Posted 03/22/99
