This is a combined synopsis/solicitation. The VA Long Beach Healthcare
System, Long Beach, California intends to negotiate a sole source
contract with Medi Tech. The Request for Proposal #RFP 600-100-99- BV
entitled "Schneider Biliary Wallstents and Symphony Nitinol Stents" is
hereby issued for commercial items and is prepared in accordance with
the format Subpart 12.6 as supplemented by additional information
included in this notice and incorporates provisions and clauses in
effect through FAC 97-11. The SIC Code is 3814 and the small business
size standard is considered 500 employees. This CBD announcement
constitutes the only solicitation issued. A separate written
solicitation document will not be issued. Med Tech shall provide an
over-the-wire biliary and vascular stent system available in multiple
sizes as indicated: delivery system: 7fr to 12fr/ shaft length 110cm to
160cm, stent diameter: 7mm to 12mm and stent length: 20mm to 90mm.
These stents shall provide moderate radiopacity in order to optimize
visualization of stent under fluoroscopy for accurate stent placement.
Stents shall be of such design and construction as to offer optimum
strength and flexibility. MediTech, (Boston Scientific Corp.), the
manufacturer of the Schneider Wallstent and Symphony Nitinol Stent is
the only company that provides such a system. The two Medi Tech systems
offer 36 sizes of Symphony Nitinol stents and approximately 48 sizes of
Schneider Biliary Wallstents with patented design and construction
technology that offers enhanced flexibility, strength, resiliency,
durability and edgeless design. Delivery terms shall be FOB Destination
(unless vendor states otherwise) to the VA Long Beach Healthcare
System, Warehouse Building 149, 5901 East Seventh Street, Long Beach,
CA 90822. This will be a firm fixed price contract. Offeror shall
submit a complete copy of provision of FAR 52.212-3, Offeror
Representation and Certification -- Commercial Items (Jan 1997). The
