Mar. 31. 1999 POC: Lucy Yates, Contracting Officer, Phone-281-244-7683
Fax: 281-244-7563, DESC:.. NASA/Johnson Space Center is interested in
receiving, on a no cost basis, information, recommendations, and/or
conceptual proposals for cooperation efforts in the development,
deployment, and utilization of the multipurpose habitation module of
the International Space Station. Specifically the International Space
Station (ISS) beginning calendar year 1999 for a period yet to be
determined may have a TransHab module developed and added to the
configuration on-orbit. The TransHab is an inflatable habitation module
primarily for human space applications. It is a 3 story house
containing approximately 12,000 cu. ft. of habitable volume and would
be used as the habitation module for the ISS and potential future
missions. The module will accommodate the living requirements of the
space crew including sleep quarters, food preparation, meeting and
dining, exercise, medical health monitoring, and storage. The purpose
of this announcement is to explore potential partnering for the
development, construction, and/or use for the ISS habitation module
(Transhab). NASA is interested in understanding potential commercial
use of a Transhab Module and the submission should include a
description of potential commercial partnerships, cost offset
opportunities, and economic benefits associated with commercial use of
the facility on-orbit, as well as, a technical description of the
proposed cooperative activity and a description of any associated
business arrangements. Organizations interested in providing
information on this subject, at no cost to the ISS program, should
contact the individual identified below. The deadline for responding to
the announcement is March 31, 1999. Contact: Sid Clinton ISSPO NASA,
