E-MAIL: Steven E. Parker, steven.parker-1@ksc.nasa.gov. NASA is looking for potential sources of rocket-grade hydrazine-type fuels to support the Space Shuttle and other NASA spacecraft missions. Currently, hydrazine-type fuels are obtained via a sole-source contract with Arch Chemicals, (formerly Olin) of Lake Charles, LA. Fuel requirements are; (1)Hydrazine, High Purity Grade, conforming to specification MIL-PRF-26536E, best estimated quantity is 6000 kg/year; (2) MonoMethyl Hydrazine (MMH), conforming to specification MIL-PRF-27404C, best estimated quantity is 42,000 kg/year. First deliveries would be scheduled for the year 2002 at Kennedy Space Center, FL, with performance to run through the end of the Space Shuttle Program, expected in the year 2020. KSC invites interested parties to submit ideas and concepts on how to develop an alternative source, including site location, plant requirements, capacities, construction lead time, environmental issues, commercial marketability, etc, as applicable. The government may consider making government-owned property available, but in no way guarantees or offers any such property at this time. Ideas and concept papers should clearly state any assumptions, including the need for any government-furnished property.
