A -- RADAR APPLICATIONS OF BUOYANT CABLE ARRAY ANTENNA SOL Sole Source 99-10 POC Technical: CAPT John J. Polcari, DARPA/TTO, FAX (703) 696-2204; Contractual: Alan Frederick, DARPA/CMD, FAX (703) 696-2208 The Defense Advanced Research Project Agency intends to issue a fixed price purchase order on a sole source basis to Vista Research, Inc. of Mountain View, California. The contractor will assess the potential utility and modifications required to employ the Buoyant Cable Array Antenna (BCAA) concept for radar applications. This will include the (a) investigation of the possibility of using vertically polarized antennas in the BCAA and identification of potentially useful types; (b) review of radar vs. communications beamforming requirements with respect to the number and disposition of apertures in a BCAA application; and (c) assessment of the impact of adding radar receiving apertures and/or shifting the operating frequency on the current BCAA design. The estimated value of this effort is $74K and the estimated duration is three (3) months. Vista Research, Inc. is the only source known to the Government with the capabilities, in-depth expertise, and personnel that can satisfy the requirements. This Notice is not a request for proposals.
