TITLE: Pine Flat Dam Tainter Gate Modifications, Kings River,
California.This proposed contract is Unrestricted. JOB DESCRIPTION: The
project consists of all necessary construction related to the
installation of approximately 8,000 pounds of structural steel to each
of six (6) spillway gates at Pine Flat Dam (total of 48,000 lbs.).
Shop fabrication (welding, cutting, drilling, etc.), field
installation/erection of structural steel members and plates
(predominately tensioned high strength structural bolts with some field
welding), removal of existing structural steel bracing members, and
spot surface preparation and painting is required. The structural steel
erection work and painting will be accomplished at a height of
approximately 400 feet. This work will require the use of mobile cranes
operation from the spillway bridge that has a limited capacity. SIC
CODE:. This procurement will be conducted under SIC code: 1791. The
size standard for this SIC code is: $7,000,000.00. REQUEST FOR
PROPOSAL:The acquisition method is negotiated procurement. A technical
and cost proposal will be required. Evaluation by the Government will
result in selection of firm that represents the best value to the
Government. Large businesses competing for this project must comply
with the FAR 52.219-9 clause regarding the requirement for a
subcontracting plan on the part of the work it intends to subcontract.
The recommended goals for subcontracting are 62.0% for small business,
10% for small disadvantaged business, and 5% for small
business/woman-owned. A firm that submits a plan with lesser goals must
submit written rationale to support goals submitted. Estimated cost is
between $1,000,000.00 -- $5,000,000.00. For more information on the

provide plans and specifications using CD-ROM only. Hard copies of the
plans and specifications will not be available. Because a limited
number of sets will be reproduced, copies are limited to one set per
firm. The CD-ROM for this project must be ordered by 03/31/99. Orders
received beyond this date will not be honored. CD-ROMs will be mailed
