availability of a Program Research and Development Announcement (PRDA).
DE-RA26-99FT40160, entitled "Next Generation Fracture Detection
Technologies." The objective of this effort is to advance the current
state-of-art and state-of-the-practice exploration technology in
natural fracture detection to produce improved characterization and
prediction of natural gas reservoir flow properties through higher
resolution remote description of fracture geometry and properties,
including azimuth, density, spacing, length, flow aperture, saturation,
and connectivity. Multiple cost-reimbursement/cost sharing contracts
awards are anticipated and phased go/no-go decisions will be made to
continue funding of individual awards. The awarded contracts will be
divided into 3 phases, each requiring different levels of industry cost
share: Phase 1 -- Theoretical Development/Basic Research (0% industry
cost share requirement and 100% government cost share requirement,
Phase 2 -- Validation and/or Prototype Development (20% industry cost
share requirement and 80% government cost share requirement), and Phase
3 -- Demonstration (50% industry cost share requirement and 50%
government share requirement). An Information Package detailing the
draft requirements is being released concurrently with this
announcement and can be viewed and downloaded from the Federal Energy
Technology Center's Internet site
http://www.fetc.doe.gov/business/index.html. Interested parties are
encouraged to review the package and provide comments and/or questions
to csharp@fetc.doe.gov by the close of business on April 9, 1999. On
or about April 14, 1999 FETC plans to post the final solicitation on
FETC's internet site noted above. See Note 2. Posted 03/24/99
