and Industrial Supply Center Norfolk, Detachment Washington intends to
award an Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity Firm Fixed Price
contract for marine engine overhaul services for the U.S. Naval Academy
Small Craft Repair Department in Annapolis, Maryland. The two types of
engines to be overhauled are the Detroit Diesel Series 12V-71N marine
diesel propulsion engine, and the Detroit Diesel Series 3-71N marine
diesel generator set engine. Engine equipment specifications are
available from the manufacturer, Detroit Diesel Corporation, Inc. The
engine overhauls shall be performed only by an authorized Detroit
Diesel Distributor/Dealer repair facility. The Contractor shall employ
only Detroit Diesel factory trained certified technicians for engine
disassembly, inspection, reassembly and testing for this contract
effort. Technician certificates must be current and must have been
valid for a minimum of two years. The Contractor shall only use parts
manufactured by Detroit Diesel Corporation, Inc. Commercial warranty
for defects in workmanship shall be for a minimum of 12 months; for
Detroit Diesel parts a minimum of 6 months, and for defects in Detroit
Diesel Reliability, a minimum of 12 months. All warranties shall begin
at post-installation sea trial at the U.S. Naval Academy. The terms of
the warranty must be honored at any and all points along the eastern
seaboard of the United States and Canada. A minimum of 28 engines are
anticipated for overhaul for the contract period inclusive of options.
The contract period is for a base year, and three (3) one-year
options. The SIC code for this requirement is 7699. This will be a 100%
Small Business Set-Aside. The anticipated release date of the
solicitation is 16 April 1999. The solicitation will be posted on the
