is NOT a Request for Proposal. This is a market survey for the 311th
Human Systems Wing, Risk Analysis Directorate, Safety and Health
Division (IERA/RSHI), Brooks AFB TX. The purpose of this market survey
is to locate sources of existing technology that can be used or
adapted to enable retrofitting existing blasting booths so that the
operator can be positioned outside the booth. The Air Force has a
number of blasting booths approximately 20 ft wide by 20 ft high by 25
ft long that are used in aircraft maintenance operations to remove
paint from aluminum aircraft parts using a plastic blasting media. The
object of the proposed modification of these booths is to allow the
operator, for health and safety reasons, to perform the operation
outside the booth. We are searching for existing technology and
eqipment to facilitate a technology transfer. Companies must
demonstrate that they have knowledge and experience in manufacturing
equipment that will perform satisfactorily for this intended purpose.
