of Health, National Institute on Aging, intends to negotiate with the
Icelandic Heart Association, Reykjavik, Iceland for a seven-year cost
reimbursement, completion type research contract to study genetic
susceptibility and gene/environment interaction in health conditions
commom in old age. The contractor will re-examine all surviving cohort
members approximately 20,000 survivors aged 63 to 90 in 1996, in
either a clinic or at home. This scientific research service is
available from only one responsible source, i.e., the Icelandic Heart
Association. The cohort to be studied in this project is a unique
established longitudinal cohort study in Iceland, the Reykjavik Study,
under the supervision of the Icelandic Heart Association. The
contractor shall provide scientific collaboration, data collection, and
data management, and other services. The statutory authority for this
action is 41 U.S.C. 253(c) 1 as set forth in FAR 6.302-1(a)(2). This is
NOT a Request for Proposal. If, however, there are any responsible
sources who feel they possess the abilities which would enable them to
perform this project, they may submit a proposal which will be
