Financing Administration's (HCFA) Office of the Actuary (OACT) intends
to negotiate on a non-competitive basis with the Interindustry
Economics Research Fund, Inc.(IERF). The purpose of this contract is to
continue to gain access to a macroeconomic model (Long-Term
Inter-Industry Forecasting Tool (LIFT))developed and maintained by the
Interindustry Forecasting at the University of Maryland (INFORUM)
group of the IERF and obtain assistance on other ad hoc projects. The
LIFT model gives OACT at HCFA the ability to analyze current and
projected trends in sector-specific economic data. It is necessary that
OACT be able to understand the general and specific economic and
demographic assumptions used in the Medicare Trustees Report, as well
as understand the effect of changes in policy, law, or market dynamics
on the health care sector and Medicare. This tool gives OACT the
ability to conduct this type of analysis. OACT will also utilize the
modeling and economic expertise of the INFORUM staff to assist in the
development of health projections models, economy-wide projections
models, and general economic research. Proposed period of performance
is twelve months from date of award with one twelve month option
