512-326-6241 The Department of Veterans Affairs, Austin Automation
Center, is seeking alternative sources for software similar or
identical to SAMS: Disk, SAMS: Vantage for MVS Base, SAMS: Allocate,
and SAMS: Allocate, which are proprietary software developed by
Sterling Software, Storage Management Division. Alternative software
must be able to operate in an MVS environment, be perpetually licensed
by site and/or agency without regard to CPU size, and must be
permitted to be used in a service bureau environment. Independent
software vendors with similar or identical software are requested to
provide product literature describing the software functions and
capabilities, commercial price list, and other requirements specified
herein, to: ATTN: J. Hamberg, 1615 Woodward St., Austin, TX 78772.
Submissions must reference the date of this notice, and must provide
the following information: 1) Detailed explanation of the difference(s)
between Sterling Software's products and your products, and 2) Detailed
explanation of the similarities between Sterling Software's products
and your products. Submissions may also be faxed to 512-326-6028,
however, oral communications are not permitted. This is not a notice
