E-MAIL: Bonnie Holland, bholland@pica.army.mil. The U.S. Army
TACOM-ARDEC, Close Combat Armament Center, is seeking novel concepts
that can be used to develop an enhanced accuracy Medium Caliber Weapon
System. The primary purpose of this effort is to explore system con-
cepts that could be the basis for a weapon system that would support
the U.S. Army's lightweight Future Combat Vehicle (FCV) variants
projected for fielding in 2010-2015. It is currently expected that the
FCV will utilize missiles for engagement with main battle tanks and
that the medium caliber weapon system would be utilized against all
other targets including; Light Armored Vehicles, infantry, ATGM's,
rockets, cruise missiles, helicopters, unmanned aerial vehicles, top
attack munitions and close in defense against tanks. "Clean sheet of
paper" approaches to obtain enhanced performance will be considered
that are innovative and novel, including maneuverable projectiles,
rapid gun slewing, autonomously controlled firing, multiple guns, and
target specific types of ammo, if they offer a high payoff. Proposed
concepts must reduce system life cycle cost by reducing the number of
rounds required to destroy a target through the improved performance of
the system. Medium caliber for this effort is defined as 25mm to 60mm.
Interested sources will be required to submit a concept description
that provides sufficiently detailed technical information to permit
evaluation. The anticipated level of effort for the proposed study
would be approximately $20,000 and 60 days in duration. Responses
should be submitted through the U.S. Army ARDEC, ATTN: AMSTA-AR-PC-D,
Bonnie Holland, Picatinny Arsenal, New Jersey 07806-5000. This is a
Market Survey. Respondents should submit their qualification data
within 14 days from date of publication. All information is to be
submitted at no cost or obligation to the Government. The Government
reserves the right to reject, in whole or in part any private sector
input as a result of this Market Survey. Telephone requests are not
acceptable. Posted 03/30/99 (D-SN314065). (0089) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0001 19990401\A-0001.SOL)
