Dennis.Morris@ndbc.noaa.gov. The National Data Buoy Center (NDBC) has
requirements to procure two sets of large rolling work
platforms/scaffolds. The scaffolds are to be multi-piece units that,
when assembled, will completely surround a 6-meter buoy. The scaffolds
must be adjustable to provide proper working levels. Each set will be
designed to provide a safe working platform for the following specific
functions: (1) sandblast and paint the buoy hull sides, and (2) provide
access to the buoy top (deck) level. Base material used in fabrication
(pipe, channel, square tubing, etc.) to be 6061-T6 aluminum. All
aluminum pipe shall be Schedule 80 and all square tubing shall be
0.1875 wall thickness. The scaffold work surface grating and stair
tread grating shall be of 1 "swage-locked I Bar'" type construction
with bearing bar spacing of approximately 1-3/16", and with cross bar
spacing of approximately 4 " . All grating and stair treads to have
permanent, slip resistant coating applied to top (walked on) surfaces
including the nosing. Scaffold designs must ensure all sections are
flush and securely attached together at adjacent edges when assembled
around buoy to provide continuous walking/working surface, and to
prevent accidental separation from assembly to prevent fall or trip
hazards between sections or between scaffold and buoy. The scaffolding
must be designed and fabricated for Medium Duty in accordance with
OSHA Standards. A general outline drawing will be included in
solicitation package. Detailed blueprints or engineering drawings of
the scaffolding designs must be provided to NDBC from the selected
vendor for final review/revision and approval prior to starting actual
fabrication. All scaffold sections must be completely test-assembled
at the factory to verify form and fit, prior to shipment. Individual
scaffold sections shall be on one-piece welded construction, except for
bolt-on peripherals such as steps, ladders, casters or railings. This
procurement is a Small Business Set-Aside. Request solicitation
packages by facsimile addressed to Dennis Morris at (228) 688-3153.
Solicitation packages will not be available via the internet.dennis.
