Vann, A.V.VANN@larc.nasa.gov. NASA Langley Research Center is seeking
3 to 5 small disadvantaged and small disadvantaged women-owned
businesses to participate in the NASA Aero-Space Technology Small
Disadvantaged Business Quarterly Forum. The forum will be held at NASA
Langley Research Center, Hampton, VA on July 15, 1999. In partnership
with NASA's Office of Aero-Space Technology and the Office of Small
and Disadvantaged Business Utilization, Langley Research Center hosts
annual forums where certain high tech small disadvantaged businesses
(SDBs) deliver technical presentations to senior Langley managers and
NASA prime contractors regarding their technical capability related to
Langley programs. Langley is seeking to identify high-tech SDBs to
participate in the upcoming forum with expertise in the areas described
below. The forums are a means of identifying high-tech SDBs capable of
participating in Langley's most complex programs as future contractors
and subcontractors. Langley is NASA's "Center of Excellence" for
structures and materials. Langley's research and technology competency
areas are aerodynamics and aerothermodynamics; airborne systems;
atmospheric sciences; structures, materials and systems engineering.
Langley has the agency lead role in the Aviation Safety Program focused
on a effort in aviation safety to contribute to the national goal by
developing technology to improve aviation safety by reducing both
aircraft accident and fatality rates. The program will also develop and
integrate information technologies needed to build a safer aviation
system to pilots and air traffic controllers, as well as provide
information to assess situations and trends that might indicate unsafe
conditions before they lead to accidents. Langley's mission is to
develop airframe and synergistic spaceframe systems technologies to
assure preminence of the U.S. civil and militaryn aeronautics and space
industries in alliance with the global community. Langley pioneers
scientific understanding of the Earth's atmosphere to preserve the
environment. Respondents are invited to submit capability statements
and other information that provides evidence of their technical
expertise in areas that relate to Langley's mission. Selection of
participants for the forum is solely at the discretion of Langley. No
expenses for participation will be reimbursed by the government.
