Morrison, dmmorrison@mail.arc.nasa.gov. THIS NOTICE CONSTITUTES
AMENDMENT NO. 1 TO THE COMBINED SYNOPSIS/RFQ FOR HOTEL/CONFERENCE
CENTER FOR TRAINING. Companies shall acknowledge all amendment(s) in
their quote. This notice serves as the official amendment to subject
synopsis/RFQ and a written amendment will not be issued. The purpose of
this amendment is to issue a change and to provide additional
information to the quoters. The following change is made: The location
of the hotel/conference center shall be within 2 hours driving
distance from San Jose International Airport or San Francisco
International Airport. Provided below is additional information to all
interested quoters as a result of questions that were submitted.
Question: Between the San Jose and San Francisco airports is a very
wide scope area; do the locations have to between the 2 or near one or
the other? Answer: The site must be no more than two (2) hours from
either the San Jose Airport or the San Francisco Airport. Question: 4-5
people per rectangle table -- do you meanan 8' table set classroom
style? That would be an awfully tight fit. Answer: Yes, typically we
place 1 person on each end and two on the long side of the table and 1
on the opposite side if necessary. Question: 4 breakouts of 12, how
set and what times needed? Answer: We like to have rooms available
throughout the 11 days for informal breakouts. There is no special
set-up for the room, just seats (preferably comfortable ones).
Question: Residency student -- is this separate from the 50 rooms.
Please clarify meaning. Answer: No, the 50 rooms is the total needed
including residency students, staff, and speakers. Question: Amenities
listed -- if not on property can they be nearby? Answer: If amenities
are not on the property, indicate how far away and any associated
cost. Question: Meals....will they be eaten in the restaurant or
separate room? If it is in the restaurant, must the restaurant provide
buffets at each meal? This might be tough! Answer: Meals are really up
to the restaurant/facility. They canbe plated, buffet, in their
restaurant or in a separate room. We are open to whatever works. There
just needs to be the capability to meet special dietary needs
(diabetics, kosher, vegetarians, low fat, etc). Question: You state
liquids and then snacks in the morning and afternoon. AM/PM break
packages will be more cost effective, would that be correct. Answer: We
typically like a break with snacks and beverages around 10 AM and 2-3
PM. The preference is to have beverages (coffee, tea and water)
available all day during the training. Break packages are acceptable.
Question: Please clarify meals desired and if the full cost is to be
included in the basic rate. Answer: Everything should be included in
the basic rate. The most desirable thing is to have a variety of meals.
Generally lighter breakfast (heavy continental) to save money, a basic
lunch and a nicer dinner. But not by any means fancy. Just your
regular food. Variety is desired since students are there for a long
stretch of time. The due date for receipt of offers is extended to
April 7, 1999. Companies shall provide the information stated in the
synopsis/RFQ posted on the NASA Acquisition Internet Service (NAIS) on
