The Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) intends to award a sole source contract to the Chemical Physics Institute, Russian Academy of Sciences to study formation of clouds of reacting and nonreacting solid particles in air from different sources, development of explosions in these clouds, and blast waves produced by these explosions. Potential devastation effect of these clouds will be assessed and compared with gaseous explosions of condensed charges. Due to its unique knowledge, experience, and expertise in fuel-oxidizer mixtures used in explosive devices and high-amplitude long-lasting reactive shock waves, the Chemical Physics Institute is the only organization capable of performing this effort. Contemplated period of performance is 7 months. All responsible sources must provide written documentation demonstrating identical or equal capability to perform the effort to Tanya Stasiuk, AMC, Defense Threat Reduction Agency, 45045Aviation Drive, Dulles, VA 20166-7517.
