National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) intends to negotiate
on a sole source basis with the Carl Zeiss, Inc., company to acquire an
LSM 510 Confocal Microscope UV/VIS with features which include:
excitation wavelengths of 351, 364, 543, 458, 488, and 633;
multidirectional scanning of individual wavelengths; 2KX2K 12 bit image
size and image depth of 2K X 2K X 4 channels fully supported by all
software commonly used for data analysis; display of up to 8 channels
simultaneously; high speed AOTF, including UV with Digital Scan
Control; ability to excite and measure fluorescence from any shape ROI
such as that of a cell; extremely high quality Optical Design with
optical correction for individual objective lens aberrations; Argon
Krypton Laser 488/568nm, 50mW (exclusive low noise version); on-line
ratioing; field size up to 18mm; fully motorized and integrated
microscope control, ICS optics, special C-APO objectives; optical noise
subtraction (on-line ratioing) via feedback sensor; and user accessible
filter slot for PMT 1 and 2. It is to be installed in purchaser's
laboratory at the NHGRI in Bethesda, Maryland. Authority: 41 U.S.C.
