(303)369-1207 This is a SOURCES SOUGHT synopsis for Conveyor/Tray
Sorting Sytem, consisting of either "straight line" or "recirculating
system", minimum of 10 and maximum of 50, initially to be installed in
the Western portion of the US, but may be eventualy intstalled
throughout the US. Trays of mail are loaded on the input conveyors,
passed under a barcode reader, then transported in a single direction
until they are diverted 90 degrees onto nonpowered gravity roller spur
conveyors. At the end of each gravity roller conveyor, employees will
manually unload the trays. The systems vary in length. All parts must
be commercially available, off the shelf items. The conveyor height is
40 inches. All electrical controls shall conform to NEMA and OSHA
codes. All conyeyors and diverters shall be interlocked so that if one
stops, all stop. Appropriate visual and audible alarms shall be
installed to indicate restart of the system. Note: The bar code readers
will read Postal Automation bar code labels and customer applied
barcode labels. Bar coded tray labels on either end of the tray will be
read by one of two Metrologic omni-directional bar-code scanner, Tech-8
series, model number 870. The programmable logic computer will be a
Allen Bradley SLC 5/03 Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) or equal if
another brand is used. Solicitation will be available after
04/19/1999. Copies of the solicitation are limited and will be issued
on a first-come, first served basis, and will be furnished only upon
receipt of non-refundable cashier's check or money order, made payable
to the "USPS Disbursing Officer," in the amount of $25.00. No
telephone requests will be accepted. Request for solicitation packages
