The Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) intends to award a sole source contract to the Chemical Physics Institute, Chernogolouka to study syntheses of energetic nitro amine cubane base compounds (SSM), characterization of their properties, introduction of active groups into the cubane skeleton, and evaluation of thermal stability of new developed SSM. The Chemical Physics Institute is the only organization capable of performing this effort, as it is the only organization which has demonstrated the method of synthesizing a new substance based on strained cubane molecules. Contemplated period of performance is 11 months.
