This is a firm fixed-price contract with a SIC code of 1629.
Competition for this acquisition is unrestricted, open to both large
and small business concerns. The magnitude of construction is between
$250,000.00 and $500,000.00. Bonding will be required for this
acquisition. The work consists of removing approximately 330 L.F. of
existing 36" steel pipeline including support system, associated
fittings, miscellaneous electrical and 42" to 36" pipe reducer. The
existing pipeline system shall be replaced with new 42" coated steel
pipeline including support system and associated fittings. In addition
to this, the work will include the removal and reinstallation of an
existing 36" horizontal cylinder valve. Also included will be the
removal of an existing 42" butterfly valve. It shall be delivered to a
machine shop located in Albuquerque, New Mexico for refurbishment by
others and then transported back to the project and reinstalled. Other
work will include miscellaneous electrical and associated subsystems.
The existing pipeline system is located within the Ute Dam Outlet
Works structure. The pipe valves and fittings will be removed from the
tunnel by pushing or pulling the items along the support beams.
Blocking supports will be required between the existing concrete
supports to prevent overstressing in the existing steel support beams.
To facilitate the accomplishment of this work, the bulkhead has been
placed at the intake of the outlet works. Questions of a technical
nature should be addressed to Phillip Roybal at (505) 342-3367. Plans
will be issued on or about April 20, 1999. The cost of plans and
specifications is $30.00 per set and is non-refundable. Checks should
be made payable to "F&A Officer-UFC, Albuquerque," and mailed to the
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Contracting Division, 4101 Jefferson
Plaza, NE, Albuquerque, NM 87109-3435. For further information on
ordering plans and specifications, call Zdenka Hvezda at (505)
342-3456. Bidders are advised that this requirement may be delayed,
