Technologies Symposium, May 3- 5, 1999, The Ritz-Carlton Hotel,
Dearborn, Michigan. The purpose of this Symposium is the Promotion of
Advanced Propulsion System Technology. Investments in science and
technology are critical to military preparedness. The President's
Technology Policy for economic growth encourages cost shared, dual
use-dual need research and development partnerships between government,
industry, and academia. This collaboration enables the Army's National
Automotive Center (NAC) to infuse the latest commercial technology
into the current and future fleets of military ground vehicles. Dr.
Michael Andrews, Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army, will give the
Army's Perspective of Hybrid Vehicles for Research and Technology. The
Overview of DARPA/Army Hybrid Electric Research and Development will be
