Institution is seeking proposals to furnish all supervision, labor,
materials, and equipment required for renovation of the HVAC system at
its National Museum of Natural History, to be completed in two (2)
phases. Phase Id -- East Penthouse System, shall be accomplished as set
forth in the Specifications (pages 1 through 664) dated June 26, 1995,
as updated May 29, 1998 and February 17, 1999, and as shown on the
Drawings (Sheets 1 through 87) dated June 26, 1995, both for OPP
Project No. 933108C. Phase IIb -- West Penthouse System, shall be
accomplished as set forth in the Specifications (pages 1 through 637)
and as shown o the Drawings (Sheets 1 through 39) both dated January
27, 1999 for OPP Project No. 933109B. The Statement of Work for both
Phases include, at minimum: demolition, including demolition of
interior masonry walls, doors, louvers, equipment, piping, ductwork,
and conduit; temporary protective structures; interior and exterior
finishes; HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection; asbestos and
lead abatement; weather and security protection of existing building;
and phasing. The sites are the fourth and fifth floors of the East Wing
for Phase Id and the Penthouse of the West Wing for Phase IIb, at the
National Museum of Natural History, 10th Street and Constitution
Avenue, Washington, DC. Copies of the drawings and specifications can
be purchased by interested parties at their own expense (this cost is
non-refundable) from Capital Technigraphics Corporation,1015 Wisonsin

All firms interested in submitting a proposal in response to this
solicitation need copies of the Request for Proposal (RFP) bid
documents. The bid documents (excluding the drawings and
specifications) are available upon written request from Smithsonian
Institution, Office of Contracting, 955 L'Enfant Plaza, SW, Suite
P-114, Washington, DC, 20024, attn: Code 16. Requests for bid documents
should be written on company letterhead and have a complete street
address, telephone and facsimile numbers, and the name of a company
representative (written requests for bid documents may be delivered to
the above address by facsimile transmission by dailing (202)287-2008).
Interested parties may atend a pre-proposal meeting to be conducted at
the site. Date, time and location of the pre-proposal meeting and due
date for submission of proposals will be included in the bid
documents. All firms responding to this solicitation will be required
to submit a business and technical proposal for evaluation. The
