DUE 061099 POC Kim Freund (509) 372-4573 E-MAIL:
jennifer.miles@pnl.gov, kimberlie.freund@pnl.gov. Pacific Northwest
National Laboratory (PNNL) seeks interested parties to commercialize
and/or license PNNL's fiberoptic, real-time radiation monitoring
systems technology. The benefits of real-time radiation dose
measurements in high flux environments with a small physical footprint
devices for minimally invasive, difficult to access in-situ
measurements were successfully demonstrated by PNNL. Applications for
the devices span medical diagnostics and therapeutics, food
sterilization, industrial processing, and limited access inspections.
Detectors can be optimized for alpha, beta, gamma, x-ray, and neutron
sources. The patented approach (US 5,704,890) employs a short section
of scintillating fiber less than 2mm in diameter attached to the end of
a more conventional optical fiber up to 10m long. This potentially
disposable detector arrangement is then coupled to a photo-multiplier
tube for photon detection. Interested companies must submit a statement
of interest, including brief descriptions of the company's financial
and technical resources, its experience in manufacturing and marketing
related instrumentation, and its experience in the medical industry.
