Geological Survey is preparing to release Request for Proposals (RFP)
99WRSS0006 for Remote Access Services consisting of Dial-up
(Asynchronous) Services and Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) Services.
Coverage areas are to be the entire United States, American Samoa,
Guam, Puerto Rico, Saudi Arabia and the United Arabic Republic (note:
this is only for dial-up, the DSL service is only required for the US).
This will be a one year, indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity,
commercial services contract with options for two additional years.
Estimated number of dial-up subscribers is: 500 in year 1; 2750 in year
2; and 4500 in year 3. Estimated number of DSL subscribers is: 50 in
year 1; 500 in year 2; and 1500 in year 3. A contract may be awarded to
one firm for both dial-up and DSL services, or separate awards may be
made for dial-up and DSL services, respectively. A pre-proposal
conference is tentatively scheduled for May 19, 1999 in Reston, VA.
Respondents will be required to submit separate technical and pricing
proposals. Only written requests for a copy of the RFP will be
