The Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Newport, Newport, RI intends to acquire engineering services for the modeling of 4.5 kHz PMN transducers for the Lightweight, Broadband, Variable Depth Sonar (LBVDS) Program on a sole source basis, iaw FAR 6.302-1, with MSTR Technologies, Rexford, NY. Specific tasks include developing a single LBVDS water loaded transducer using FEWaves, extending the single transducer model to a multiple transducer model with different drive phasings, and providing improvements to the electrostrictive formulation used in FEWaves. FEWaves is a proprietary Finite Element Modeling (FEM) that specializes in underwater sonar devices. MSTR Technologies is uniquely qualified to undertake the proposed modifications to that code. A Firm Fixed Price, Level-Of-Efffort Term contract is anticipated. Contract period will be from date of award through September 30, 1999. See Notes 22 and 26.
