The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), intends to negotiate with Price-Modern of Washington, Inc., 9700G Martin Luther King Highway, Lanham, MD 20706 on a sole source basis for the supply and installation of Dowcraft integral wall partitions and components to enclose three new office spaces. Partitions are special height(11'-10 ") and are therefore not available through GSA Schedule. The NIST Office of Human Resources currently has five office spaces utilizing the Dowcraft integral wall partitions. Additionally, the Dowcraft wall partitions are compatible with Haworth Systems furniture components, that have been ordered for use within these three offices. Price-Modern of Washington is the area representative for Dowcraft and Haworth and is coordinating the overall assembly and installation. The Government intends to solicit one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b), "Soliciting from a single source," because Price-Modern of Washington is the only known source capable of providing the compatibility and continuity with existing wall partitions and components. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However all proposals received within 5 days of the publication date of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed purchase based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
