synopsis/solicitation Submission No. 2935806 dated 5 February 1999 for
commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR SUBPART
12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this
notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; quotations
are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued.
Therefore, this revision for submission No. 2935806 shall serve as a
request for quotation, numbered F41621-99-R5010, which seeks proposals,
based on information contained in this synopsis. This synopsis and
incorporated provisions/clauses are in effect through the Federal
Acquisition Circular 90-46. The Standard Industrial Classification
(SIC) for this acquisition is 3577. THIS IS SET-ASIDE FOR SMALL
BUSINESS. The Small Business Size Standard is 1000 employees. The

EQUIPMENT CONTROL -- AMX CUSTOM (OR EQUAL) OPERATING REQUIREMENTS FOR
PROJECTION CONTROL SYSTEM PROJECTION CONTROL SYSTEM MUST BE AN
INTEGRATED CONTROL SYSTEM THAT IS SIMPLE TO OPERATE AND IS VERY
RELIABLE FOR USE ON SHORT NOTICE. THE OPERATOR MUST BE ABLE TO PROJECT
A SINGLE OUTPUT IMAGE OR ANY COMBINATION OF 2 TO 4 SIMULTANEOUS OUTPUT
IMAGES FROM ANY OF 12 POTENTIAL INPUTS. THE OPERATOR SHOULD BE ABLE TO
ZOOM AND PAN WITH EASE ON ANY PROJECTED OUTPUT. THE OPERATOR CONTROL
DEVICE WILL BE WIRELESS AND WILL HAVE THE CAPABILITY TO PREVENT
INTERFERENCE WITH OR FROM ANOTHER SIMILAR CONTROL SYSTEM LOCATED IN
CLOSE PROXIMITY TO THIS SYSTEM. ALL OF THE EQUIPMENT TO BE CONTROLLED
(EXCEPT THE PROJECTOR) WILL BE LOCATED IN A SEPARATE EQUIPMENT ROOM
WHICH IS ABOUT 30 FEET STRAIGHT LINE FROM THE CEILING MOUNTED
PROJECTOR, AND THE EQUIPMENT WILL NOT BE VISIBLE FROM THE OPERATOR
LOCATION. ALL PROJECTION SYSTEM EQUIPMENT, EXCEPT THE PROJECTOR,
SCREEN, SPEAKERS, WIRELESS CONTROLLER, AND REMOTE IR SENSOR(S), WILL BE
MOUNTED IN THE EQUIPMENT RACK AND LOCATED IN THE EQUIPMENT ROOM. ALL
NECESSARY EQUIPMENT RACK SHELF MOUNTS/SHELF ADAPTERS AND HARDWARE
REQUIRED FOR RACK INSTALLATION OF THE EQUIPMENT WILL BE PROVIDED. ALL
SPECIAL CABLES REQUIRED TO INSTALL A COMPLETELY INTEGRATED AND
FUNCTIONAL SYSTEM MUST BE PROVIDED-THIS INCLUDES ALL CABLES REQUIRED
FOR COMPUTER CONNECTIONS TO THE INTERFACES AND THE INTERFACE CONECTIONS
TO THE MATRIX SWITCHER. A POWER SUPPLY MUST BE PROVIDED FOR EVERY
DEVICE REQUIRING AN EXTERNAL POWER SUPPLY. A SPARE BATTERY, CHARGER,
AND CHARGER POWER SUPPLY MUST BE PROVIDED FOR ALL DEVICES EQUIPPED WITH
RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES. BACKUP AC POWER SUPPLIES MUST BE PROVIDED FOR
ALL DEVICES POWERED BY RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES. THE SYSTEM MUST BE
DELIVERED, INSTALLED, AND DEMONSTRATED IN SUFFICIENT DEPTH TO
FAMILIARIZE TWO TO FOUR GOVERNMENT PERSONNEL IN THE SYSTEM OPERATION.
WRITTEN SYSTEM OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS MUST BE PROVIDED TO INCLUDE
PROJECTOR SETUP AND CALIBRATION PROCEDURES. PROJECTION SYSTEM
INSTALLATION CHARACTERISTICS: Projector is to be ceiling mounted for
forward projection onto a wall mounted screen with the projector image
starting about 48 inches from the floor and extending up the wall
vertically to the 96 inch lowered false ceiling. The projector would be
suspended from the ceiling at a distance far enough from the projection
screen to permit a projected image of about 48 inches high by 64 inches
wide and 80 inches diagonally. Future projection requirements will
require use of the full wall mounted screen size for a projection image
72 inches high by 96 inches wide and 120 inches diagonally. Speakers
are to be wall mounted on either side of the screen. The control system
shall be an integrated wireless type and must be able to control all
projection system components except the individual computer systems.
The control system shall be able to function from directly beneath the
ceiling mounted projector out to a radius of about 15 feet from the
projector in any direction, and the control system will not have to
control any of the individual computers. In addition to all the cables
needed to connect the various projection system components within the
equipment rack, special cables must be included to connect the Extron
ADA2-300HV or EQUAL ITEM to the projector (estimate minimum of 75 ft
in length.) Also special cables must be provided for the remote IR
sensor(s) and for the wall-mounted speakers. 1 -- Cables/ Connectors
necessary to connect the system and facilitate the operation of the
system -and installation; 1 -- Set up/Integration/ Demonstration. THE
