is currently available -- The solicitation will be issued on or about
May 27, 1999. FEATURES OF THE WORK:For generating units G1 through G18
in the Left and Right Powerplants at Grand Coulee Dam:a.Replacing the
existing six high pressure carbon dioxide fire extinguishing systems
with two new low pressure carbon dioxide fire extinguishing systems of
a modern design. Each existing high pressure fire extinguishing system
protects three generating units. A new replacement low pressure carbon
dioxide fire extinguishing system shall be required for protecting
generating units G1 through G9 in the Left Powerplant and a new
replacement low pressure carbon dioxide fire extinguishing system shall
be required for protecting generating units G10 through G18 in the
Right Powerplant.b.Replacing the existing carbon dioxide fire
extinguishing control equipment with a new addressable control system
in each powerplant. Each new control system shall consist of one main
control panel, one remote control switch panel, and panels for
interfacing with existing and future circuits and equipment. Making
modifications and additions to the existing unit control boards for
generating units G1 through G18 shall be required.c.Performing complete
cleaning, testing, and identification of the new low pressure carbon
dioxide fire extinguishing systems equipment, piping and
valving.d.Disassembling, removing and disposing of portions of the
existing high pressure carbon dioxide fire extinguishing equipment,
piping and valving that are being replaced.For generating units G1
through G4 in the Powerplant at Hungry Horse Dam:a.Replacing the
existing two high pressure carbon dioxide fire extinguishing systems
with one new low pressure carbon dioxide fire extinguishing system of
a modern design. Each existing high pressure fire extinguishing system

dioxide fire extinguishing system will be required for protecting units

County, Montana, about 9 miles southeast of Columbia Falls, Montana.
