Y -- This project includes nourishment of two areas in Pinellas County, Florida -- Long Key and Treasure Island. On Long Key, the project includes the placement of approximately 200,000 cubic yards of sand on 2,300 feet of beach just south of Blind Pass. The material for this segment will come from Blind Pass. For the Treasure Island segment, material will come from dredging the remaining material in the Blind Pass Borrow Area and the maintenance dredging of the Johns Pass Entrance Channel. The Blind Pass Borrow Area will be used for the Long Key segment first. After completing the Long Key portion, Blind Pass is anticipated to have approximately 50,000 cubic yards of material remaining. The Entrance Channel is anticipated to have approximately 70,000 cubic yards of shoaled material. The 2,200-foot segment of Treasure Island to be nourished is located 3,000 feet north of Blind Pass and approximately 2.5 miles south of Johns Pass. Access is limited to the beach site. Upland access on Long Key willbe provided at a park at Upham Beach. Upland access on Treasure Island will be provided at street endings. Access for discharge pipes along Treasure Island may be accomplished by placing pipes along the beach seaward of the Erosion Control Line or from offshore. Equipment needed would include, but not be limited to, pipeline dredge; bulldozer; front-end loader; booster pumps; and, flatbed truck to haul pipeline. Magnitude of construction is $1,000,000 and $5,000,000. Pre-Solicitation Notice will be issued on or about 12 April 1999.
