Furnish all labor, material and equipment necessary to replace the siding and roofing at the Keeper's Dwelling at U.S. Coast Guard Coney Island Light located adjacent to Seagate Village in Brooklyn, New York. The work includes demolition, new stainless steel flashing, repointing of chimneys, installation of new gutters and downspouts, wood trim, painting, deck repairs, new red cedar shingles and miscellaneous associated work. The successful contractor must demonstrate past experience in the installation of wood shingles over curved or irregular surfaces in order to be eligible for award. This Request for Quotations is being issued pursuant to the Small Business Competitiveness Demonstration Program and is open to both large and small business participation. It is estimated between $25,000 and $100,000. The applicable SIC Code is 1761. Bid packages will be available on or about 28 March 1999 at a non-refundable charge of $24. For minority, women owned and disadvantaged business enterprises: the Department of Transportation (OSDBU) has programs to assist minority, women owned and disadvantaged business enterprises to acquire short term working capital and bonding assistance for transportation related contracts. This is applicable to any eligible prime or subcontract at any tier. The DOT bonding assistance program enables firms to apply for bid, performance and payment bonds up to $1 million per contract. The DOT provides an 80% guaranty on the bond amount to a surety against losses. Loans are available under the DOT Short Term Lending Program (STLP) at prime interest rates to provide accounts receivable financing. The maximum line of credit is $500,000.
