E-MAIL: NIST Contracts Office, Contract@nist.gov. The National Insitute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has a requirement for a Vertical Machining Center. The machine shall be an electrically powered, motor-driven unit with a vertical spindle, automatic tool changer and magazine, and a fully enclosed cutting zone. The machine shall use state of the art electric/servo motors for movement of all items. Movement of the promary axes(X, Y, and Z) of the machine shall be accomplished through application of high resolution AC digital drive motors and sufficiently sized solid box quideways. The machine shall be equipped with both floor and through-the-spindle coolant systems and be designed to handle the chip disposal, conveyance, and coolant filtration requirements dictated by machining of various types of metal. The machine shall be controlled by a 32-bit Compute Numerical Control (CNC) which is microprocessor based and capable of handling high speed machining application requirements. The Government wishes to trade-in an existing Machining Center . Complete specifications will be provided with the solicitation. This solicitation is being conducted as a Commercial Acquisition. The Government anticipates award of a firm fixed price contract. Delivery location is NIST, Gaithersburg, MD 20899. The FOB Point shall be Destination.
