59 -- SURFACE MAGNETIC MINESWEEPING CABLE PROTOTYPE ASSEMBLIES SOL N00024-99-R-6320 POC 02632M, Ms. Traci Mounts, 703-602-7707 The Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) intends to procure one (1) nylon 11 coated coaxial prototype surface magnetic minesweeping cable on a sole source basis from Cogent Defence Systems, Queensway Meadows, Newport GWENT NP9 OSS, United Kingdom. The procurement will include the manufacture of a prototype minesweeping cable, support and interface equipment and design engineering services. Cogent is the sole designer and manufacturer of the MK 17 Mod 3 Magnetic Minesweeping Cable Assembly (an airborne minesweeping cable on which the surface prototype cable will be based). Cogent Defence Systems is the only company that possesses the in-depth technical knowledge of the equipment's requirements and material characteristics to satisfactorily perform the work under the contract contemplated herein.
