OPPORTUNITIES EXPO The 5th Annual Norfolk/Hampton Regional Small
Business Procurement Fair, Networking Breakfast, Seminar, and
Counseling Expo Thursday, June 24, 1999 On Thursday, June 24, 1999,
more than 300 government and 100 corporate personnel are expected to
participate in the networking opportunities event at Pier 26 (formally
known as The Norfolk Live Officers Club), on-site at the Norfolk Naval
Base. This is the largest DoD area in the country and the Norfolk Naval
Base is the world's largest Naval Base. Over 16,000 active personnel
and over 90 different tenant commands are located here. The following
agencies are being invited to support government counseling tables:
FISC -- Norfolk, Langley AFB, NASA Langley Research Center, Naval
Security Group Activity, Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Fort
Monroe, and Fort Eustis! In addition, this event will be promoted to
all personnel located at CINCLANT Fleet, Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Fort
Monroe, NASA Langley Research Center, Naval Facilities Engineering
Command, Damneck -- U.S. Navy, Fort Eustis, Langley AFB, Oceana NASA,
and more. Participants will enjoy a hearty buffet-style breakfast,
enlightening speakers, and a chance to confer with representatives from
local DoD and civilian agencies. The day will begin with a networking
breakfast at 8:30 a.m., then from 9:00 a.m. to 10 a.m. presentations
made by Ms. Billye Phillips, SADBU, Department of Defense Education
Supplies Procurement Office (DESPO) will present "supporting schools
for Military Families". Following will be a presentation by Mr. Terry
Sadowski, Director of the Small Business Division at Dell Computer
Corporation, on how technology allows small businesses to "Level the
Playing Field". This is an easy way to network, meet with key
government personnel, and increase federal market share. Everyone is
encouraged to participate. There is space available for those companies
who wish to display their products or services on a six foot table top
display to the over 300 personnel from various area government
agencies who will attend. All technologies and services are requested.
