The spool is an open ended cone. 25.372L" x 20" at the base. The predominant material is Iconel 718, CT50TF37, CL-BB50TF56CL-A, and B50TF57CL-A. The spool support stage 14-16 high pressure compressor rotor blades. It also defines the inner flowpath in the aft stages. It also provides a discourager seal tooth for controlling compressor discharge air loss.
