Design, fabrication, and delivery of two (2) structural steel
enclosures required. First enclosure is approximately 18 ft. high x 17
ft. wide x 40 ft. long. Second enclosure is approximately 26 ft. high
x 17 ft. wide x 30 ft. long. Each enclosure shall be fully enclosed on
the top, both sides, and one end. The enclosed end will have a door
capable of providing an opening 12 ft. x 18 ft. The other end shall be
open for connection to existing facilities. The enclosures shall have
padeyes sufficiently designed to allow for crane lifts. Basic
construction shall consist of an exterior steel skin with internal
structural beams, columns, and associated stiffeners. Materials shall
be of carbon steel, primed and painted inside and out. From basic
specifications provided by the Norfolk Naval Shipyard (NNSY), the
Contractor shall prepare and submit complete structural design with
supporting calculations and detailed construction drawings for approval
prior to production. The enclosures and specific features must be
capable of supporting existing equipment, personnel under normal and
destructive weather conditions. The existing equipment consists of two
10 ton (each) vent units. Up to four (4) personnel will be on the roof
of the enclosures simultaneously to operate and service the vent units
routinely. Design and construction shall follow the AISC Manual of
Steel Construction and AWS Welding specifications. The Contractor shall
evaluate the method of delivery and submit a plan as a part of the
proposal package. The fabrication and assembly shall be conducted at
the Contractor's facility to the maximum extent possible. Final
assembly of the enclosures may take place at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard
if needed. The Contractor shall provide its own required services and
equipment to facilitate any assembly at NNSY. Projected date of
delivery is 15 February 2000. All requests for copies of this
