Passenger Rail Authority (hereinafter referred to as "NNEPRA") of
Augusta, Maine, requests submission of bids from individuals and/or
firms for the purchase of railroad track ballast. Any correspondence,
questions or request for bid documents and specifications should be
directed to: Mr. Randolph N. Pike PE, TEC Associates, 46 Sawyer Street,
South Portland, Maine 04106, Telephone: (207) 767-6068. Sealed bids
will be received at, NNEPRA, 5 Industry Road, South Portland, Maine,
04106 by Mr. Michael J. Murray, PE Executive Director, until 2:00 p.m.,
prevailing local time, Friday, April 30, 1999, at which time they will
be publicly opened and announced. Any bid received thereafter will not
be considered for award and will be returned to the bidder unopened.
Bid security shall be required as called for in the Instructions to
Bidders. Requests for clarification or for extension of the bid opening
must be submitted in letter form a minimum of seventy-two (72) hours
prior to the bid opening date. The NNEPRA reserves the right to
determine whether an extension is justified. All bidders will be
notified in writing of any extension or clarification. Issuance of the
Invitation for Bids does not commit the NNEPRA to award any contract,
to pay any costs incurred in preparation of a bid pursuant to this
request or to procure or contract for services or supplies. NNEPRA
reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to readvertise. As an

the locality of such governing body), during his or her tenure or for
one year thereafter, shall have any interest, direct or indirect, in
this solicitation or any contract executed subsequently, or the
