Centers for Disease Control and Prevention contemplates awarding
multiple contracts for the surveillance of occupational exposures to
Hepatitis C Virus (HCV)-infected blood, to collect specimens from
health care workers (HCWs) and source and source patients, and to
provide existing data to the Government. The successful offerors will
collect approximately 40 specimens form 10 health care workers and 10
specimens from 10 source patients and submit the specimens to a
laboratory designated by CDC for testing. The successful offerors will
be required to collect and submit to the Government data on
approximately 10 HCV health care workers and approximately 10 source
patients. The period of performance will be 12 months from the contract
award date. One 12 month option period may be included in the contract.
If an option period is added, the services and estimated quantities
will be the same as discussed above for the base year. The scheduled
issue date is approximately June 14, 1999. Only written requests for
this solicitation will be honored. No telephone requests will be
