Government's intent to acquire on a sole-source basis from Matsushita
Electric Industrial Co. (Panasonic) replacement personnel monitoring
devices. The acquisition is for 10,000 each Panasonic UD 802-AS
thermoluminescent dosimeter (TLD) badges with an option to procure
50,000 each additional badges in 10,000 badge increments over a
five-year period. The U.S. Army Radiation Standards and Dosimetry
Laboratory (RSDL), Dosimetry Branch, currently possesses accreditation
by the National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program (NVLAP),
National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) to provide
dosimetry service using the Panasonic UD 802-AS TLD badges. Therefore,
the current whole body TLD system uses dosimeters and readers
manufactured by Panasonic. As is typical with most dosimeter systems,
the Panasonic readers will only accept dosimeters manufactured by
